KatPool is an open-source mining pool for Kaspa.
It offers some of the lowest fees among Kaspa mining pools, with NACHO rebates that connect mining to the community.
Instead of each miner waiting to find a block alone, miners work together and share the rewards their pool finds.
How does it work?
Miners connect their mining machines to KatPool.
Every machine keeps mining. KatPool measures how much work each miner contributes.
To do that, it uses results called:
Shares
A Share is a small proof that a miner has done real work.
It's not a Kaspa block. It helps the pool measure each miner's contribution.
When someone in the pool finds a valid block, the reward is shared among participants according to the pool's rules.
How are rewards split?
KatPool uses a method called:
PROP - Proportional
The idea is simple:
More contributed work = a larger share of that round's reward.
Why mine in a pool at all?
Mining solo means waiting for your own machine to find a block.
In a pool, you take part in a larger group and receive a share of the blocks the group finds.
Instead of waiting alone for a block, miners share the work and the rewards.
Open source - code you can actually inspect
KatPool doesn't just tell miners how rewards are calculated.
The code doing those calculations is open for anyone to inspect.
That includes how work is measured, rewards are split, pool fees are calculated, and NACHO rebates are worked out.
Developers can read it, test it, learn from it, and build on it.
And where does NACHO come in?
KatPool currently charges a:
0.75% pool fee
But part of that fee goes back to miners in NACHO.
Every miner - 33% of the fee back
33% of the pool fee is returned in NACHO.
For example:
1,000 KAS mining reward7.5 KAS pool feeNACHO worth 2.475 KAS returned to the miner
The mining reward is paid in KAS after the pool fee is deducted. The rebate is paid separately in NACHO.
The amount of NACHO depends on KatPool's conversion calculation and can vary with market prices.
And there's a 100% rebate, too
A KatPool miner who meets any one of these eligibility conditions can get:
100% of the pool fee back in NACHO.
Qualifying conditions are:
- Holding at least 100 million NACHO;
- Holding at least one qualifying Nacho Kats / NACHO NFT;
- Holding a KATCLAIM NFT.
For every miner: one-third of the fee comes back in NACHO.For an eligible community member mining at KatPool: the entire fee can come back in NACHO.
Why does that matter?
KatPool brings three things together:
Kaspa mining.
Code people can inspect.
A share of the pool's earnings returned to miners through NACHO.
Even someone who joins just to mine KAS can receive NACHO and discover the community behind it.
